Spice up the snack table!
So many snacks can benefit from this spicy jalapeƱo cheese dip. It’s terrific with crackers and pretzels and super tasty with cruditĆ©. Or try it spread over nachos. Yum. You’ll find this dip gone before you know it.
If you want a little more kick, swap out the jalapeƱo for serrano peppers or increase the amount of cayenne pepper powder that you use.
JalapeƱo Cheese Dip
Ingredients
- 1 jalapeƱo pepper minced
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 1 cup Colby Jack cheese shredded
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper powder
Instructions
- Over medium heat, melt the butter in a sauce pan, then add flour and whisk until fully combined.
- Add milk and whisk to combine.
- Add the minced jalapeƱo pepper and the garlic and stir often until the mix begins to thicken (10 to 15 minutes).
- Remove the sauce from the heat and mix in the shredded Colby Jack cheese and cayenne pepper. Stir until then cheese is melted into the sauce.
Notes
For more heat, use serrano peppers instead of jalapeƱo peppers, or increase the amount of cayenne pepper used.
