Yummy spicy dipping or fiery spread…
Harissa paste and mayonnaise is a simple, yet potent combo: big chili flavor, exotic spices, and a creamy delicious tang that smooths everything out just a touch. It’s perfect next to fresh vegetables as a spicy dip, or try it spread on your next chicken, turkey, or vegetable sandwich. It brings life to your lunch. We also love it as a dipper for French fries, especially sweet potato fries where the sweetness is a delicious foil to the spice of the harissa aioli.
You can increase the heat with a little more harissa, but stop at an extra teaspoon. Too much of the paste can overwhelm the creamy aioli flavor. Or try a dash of cayenne powder to amp up the flavor instead. It will keep the balance intact.
Harissa Aioli
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon harissa paste
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- pinch of salt
Instructions
- Mix all ingredients in a bowl until thoroughly combined.
- For best flavor, refrigerate the aioli for 30 minutes to 1 hour prior to serving
Notes
Want more spiciness? Add an additional teaspoon of harissa (maximum). Or opt for a pinch of cayenne pepper powder. The latter will help keep the spicy to creamy balance at its optimal level.
